Władysława Prucnal, a self-taught sculptress working in clay, has lived all her life in the village of Medynia Głogowska, one of the best known centres of pottery in Poland.
The book features the life of the Artist set against the background of historical and economic changes in Poland in the second half of the 20th century, focusing on the shift in the reception of folk art since the times of the communist regime. Illustrated with photographs, both archival and contemporary, depicting her ceramic figures and the Artist herself at different stages of her career, the book offers an in-depth look into the life of the sculptress whose outstanding works can be admired in ethnographic museums all over Poland and art galleries around the world.
