Krakow Christmas cribs (creches) have made a global career.  There's nothing quite like them anywhere else in the world.  This special type of Christmas crib first appeared in 19th century Krakow and it's still going strong today.  The Krakow Szopka has the shape of a multi-level pinnacled and richly decorated edifice constructed in light materials (cardboard and colored tin foils).  Its characteristic feature is the fanciful accumulation of miniature details reminiscent of Krakow's architecture.  This is intended as a setting fit to present the great mystery of the Nativity of the Son of God.  Please note that szopkas are made by hand and designs will vary.
