THE CITY OF HAMTRAMCK CELEBRATES TRADITION WITH

COUNTDOWN TO PACZKI DAY


Hamtramck - It’s Paczki season and the City of Hamtramck is kicking off the tradition with two very special events-a Paczki Bake-Off and the 6th Annual Countdown to Paczki Day celebration. Both events lead up to Paczki Day when the city’s bakeries, bars and restaurants welcome everyone to be Polish for a day! PNC Bank is one of the proud sponsors of these events.


PACZKI BAKE-OFF

WHEN & WHERE   Thursday, March 3, 10:00am, Hamtramck City Hall

PRIZES                      1st Place $100.00  2nd Place $50.00  3rd Place $25.00

Entries will be judged on taste, originality and appearance.  

Contestants must be pre-registered by March 1.  There is a $5.00 non refundable entry fee.

 The Thursday before Ash Wednesday is the traditional Paczki Day in Poland, so what better way to celebrate than to show off your baking skills and creativity with your best homemade paczki recipe. 

Judges include: 

Steve Siekierzynski, Executive Chef at La Dolce Vita
Tamara Sochocka M.L.I.S., Hamtramck Library Director
Dr. Alina Klin, Senior Lecturer of Polish Studies Wayne State University.


COUNTDOWN TO PACZKI DAY CELEBRATION

LIVE MUSIC - by the Misty Blues

HEATED TENT - complete with dance floor and Polish Dancers! Gwiazda Polish Dancers will preform.

Detroit Tiger mascot Paws will stop in for a paczki and photos!

Free Paczki - sorry, not all you can eat

Paczki Express - taking you from the tent to our many local bakeries and back

            Music by the Misty Blues free paczki, Gwiazda Polish Dancers, Paczki Express Bus - it’s a party for the whole family.  We will have a special visit by Paws from the Detroit Tigers! Stop by the tent first to taste a sampling from the city’s many bakeries to find your favorite.  Then board the Paczki Express and get a jump on the lines and buy your paczki early at one of our fine bakeries.  Stay for the day and try one of Hamtramck’s many restaurants or bars. It’s sure to be a fun day for the entire family including grandma, grandpa and the kids!
