"On the first of September 1939,the enemy invaded Poland from the country of Germany." The Soviet army joined this attack on September 17th. This began one of the most tragic periods of the Polish people: The occupation of Poland by the Nazis and the Bolsheviks. On September 28, 1939, the last defenders of Warsaw surrendered.
Underground authorities of the Polish Secret State, both military and civilian, through a number of sabotages and active partisan struggle. organized determined resistance.
An extremely effective weapon in the fight against the hated occupier was also a song, originating either spontaneously or at the call of the secret government. The song described situations in which our nation found itself in those dramatic years. Songs formed mobilizing the nation to the highest sacrifice, heroism, and the constant reminder to resist. In addition to songs, their were those that formed a prayer. Both types gained great popularity by "encouraging the spirit of" songs written before the war, for example: "Heart in a backpack," "The sea, our sea," "March of the pilots," and Infantry ".
In the repertoire of our CD we have also included the pre-war "Prayer of scouting" - the song of Polish scouts. The only scouting organization in the world, which during the Second World War took part in the major underground battles of the Polish nation.
The tracks on the album are an opportunity to recall memories connected with the events from seventy years ago. They create a memory of the war era with its suffering and pain. They are an attempt to join our hearts with the souls of heroes who gave their lives so that we can enjoy freedom today.
