“Poland in Old Photographs” – a collection of archival photographs from the early years of photography to the year 1939, owned by the state archives, with prefaces by Prof. Janusz Tazbir and Prof. Daria Nałęcz and descriptions by Tomasz Jurasz. The album shows Poland, mainly of the inter-war period, within its former boundaries. This is a journey through cities, towns and villages from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, with their atmosphere, buildings, ethnic and religious diversity. How Polish roads, cities and villages looked like a hundred years ago, what figures, faces and clothes were captured by the old camera, what events, customs and places were preserved in the yellowed, faded, yet fascinating photographs – to find out one should but open the album.
