In spite of the high degree of industrialization and urbanization, wooden churches still survive in the Silesian Province. They are the region's extremely valuable and unique cultural heritage that requires particular protection. These churches come from the period between the 15th and 18th centuries and have usually been built by local Polish masters. They all have some special features that make them different from wooden churches in Poland's other regions.
This color album features the architecture of 68 of these special churches as well as descriptions of each. A fold out map of the region pinpointing their locations is included.
Text is in English, Polish and German. |
