Polish wooden plates are made from Linden wood in the mountain region of southern Poland called Podhale.  The plates are cut and shaped on a lathe by hand.  The floral designs are burned into the wood before staining and varnishing. All the flowers are surrounded by inlaid brass as well as the exterior ring.   They are delightful works of folk art to be cherished for generations.  Please note that the lighting makes the plate in the second picture appear lighter than its actual shade.  Designs vary
