The Hungarian-Polish sabre is the oldest sabre design on the Polish lands. Batorówka is one of its types. Its appearance is connected with the Prince of Transylvania - Stefan Batory, who was elected King of Poland in 1576 and ruled until his death in 1586 Sikorski's sabre belongs to ceremonial sabres which could not be carried with the uniform. Ceremonial sabres were different from the standard ones in their hilts and individual ornamentation. They frequently were gifted to officers of high ranks in the P Karabela is the 18th century name for a Polish sabre modelled after Turkish weapons which appeared on the Polish lands in the 16th century.
