As he writes in his review of prof. Zbigniew
Przerembski "The importance of folk musical instruments for the
cultural tradition of our country can not be overestimated". This is the first on the Polish market for this type of work.
In
addition to the general history of folk instruments the author presents a
group idiofonów, membranophones, chordophones and aerophones. For
the average reader, this division resulting from the method of
stimulating and construction of the instrument sounds pretty mysterious,
but you'll find here descriptions and photos, among others, rattles,
harp, harmony (it idiophones), drums (membranophones), devilish violin,
dulcimer (a Chordophone) and fifes, bagpipes Wielkopolska, goats
wedding, clarinets, cornets, trombones and French horn (that Aerophone).
Some of these instruments are currently used in classical music or jazz.
An
important and interesting phenomenon Polish folklore are folk bands
whose compositions vary greatly and are connected with Polish
ethnographic regions. This topic is devoted a separate chapter of the book.
The
publication is richly illustrated, in the vast majority of iconography
derived from the Museum of Folk Musical Instruments in Szydłowiec.

Jak pisze w recenzji prof. Zbigniew Przerembski „ Znaczenie ludowych
instrumentów muzycznych dla tradycji kulturowej naszego kraju trudno
przecenić”. Praca jest tym cenniejsza, że stanowi kompendium wiedzy na
ten temat , zebranej przez znakomitego fachowca tematu. Jest to poza tym
pierwsza na polskim rynku tego typu praca, do tej pory ukazywały się
tylko wyrywkowe opracowania konkretnych instrumentów.
Poza
ogólną historią instrumentów ludowych autorka prezentuje grupy
idiofonów, membranofonów, chordofonów i aerofonów. Dla przeciętnego
czytelnika podział ten wynikający ze sposobu pobudzania i konstrukcji
instrumentu brzmi dość tajemniczo, ale znajdziemy tu opisy i zdjęcia
m.in. kołatek, drumli, harmonii ( to idiofony), bębnów (membranofony),
skrzypiec diabelskich, cymbałów (to chordofony), oraz piszczałek,
dud wielkopolskich, kozłów weselnych, klarnetów, kornetów, puzonów i
waltorni (to aerofony). Niektóre z tych instrumentów obecnie są
wykorzystywane w muzyce klasycznej czy jazzowej.
Ważnym i
ciekawym zjawiskiem polskiego folkloru są kapele ludowe, których
składy różnią się znacznie i związane są z regionami etnograficznym
Polski. Temu tematowi poświęcony jest odrębny rozdział książki .
Publikacja
jest bogato ilustrowana , w zdecydowanej większości ikonografia
pochodzi ze zbiorów Muzeum Ludowych Instrumentów Muzycznych w
Szydłowcu.
