Throughout the Polish countryside you can find wayside religious shrines on the country roads and near farmer's fields.  The shrines called kapliczki (miniature chapels) are beautiful examples of Polish religious devotion.  They may contain a statue of Jesus or Mary and many contain flowers and candles.  They are well maintained as this doll set illustrates.  Here we see two Krakow maidens decorating one such shrine.  These dolls are perfect, clothed in authentic regional folk costumes, as certified by the Polish Ministry of Culture. These traditional Polish dolls are completely handmade and hand painted using only natural materials.  Notice the fine attention to detail and workmanship.
