Description

The richly illustrated album presents the material and spiritual heritage of the villages of the most important ethnographic regions of Poland (Greater Poland, Krakow region, Lublin region, Podhale, Greater Poland, Upper and Lower Silesia, Kashubia, Kujawy, Kurpie, Łowicz region). The authors of individual chapters tell colorfully about the life of the former Polish countryside, about the daily activities of the inhabitants, they show how they lived, what equipment they used, how they decorated the interiors of their huts. They also present a festive village, shimmering with fabulous colors of parade costumes, decorations, cutouts, paper flowers, etc. They devote a lot of attention to old beliefs, customs and rituals related to church holidays, farm work and family life. They prove that folk culture is still alive, which is reflected e.g. the activity of numerous open-air museums, regional events, folk art festivals, as well as the fashion for motifs and patterns referring to the original folk design. Polish Language Only

Bogato ilustrowany album prezentuje dziedzictwo materialne i duchowe wsi najważniejszych regionów etnograficznych Polski (Wielkopolska, region krakowski, Lubelszczyzna, Podhale, Wielkopolska, Górny i Dolny Śląsk, Kaszuby, Kujawy, Kurpie, region łowicki).
