Maksymilian Fajans (1825–1890) is the second monographic album in the "Fotografowie Warszawy" series, devoted to the outstanding Warsaw artist and presenting the most valuable photographs of the capital. It contains several dozen photographs, including views of Warsaw and reports from the life of the city (including the opening of the Kierbedzia bridge, the construction of the Warsaw-Terespolska railway station, the interior of the famous Lourse confectionery in the Europejski Hotel), portraits of prominent residents and personalities coming to Warsaw, then capital of the Kingdom of Poland, made in the artist's studio. The publication also includes an essay by Danuta Jackiewicz (curator of photography from the National Museum in Warsaw) and a calendar of events in the field of photography (in the world and in the Kingdom of Poland).
Maksymilian Fajans dealt with photography for nearly 20 years. He documented places and events that no one recorded on glass negatives. current topics related to the construction of the infrastructure of important railway lines: Warsaw-Terespol and Vistula. He developed his own technology for making photographic prints, obtaining a deep violet-brown tint of the image, different from the standard sepia range. The book is published in two language versions: Polish and English
