Back on Labor Day Week-end of 1968, ten year old Richie Drongoski played his accordion and sang in public for the first time with Li'l Wally. Richie fell in love with the concertina and "concertina master" Casey "Fingers" Siewierski became his idol and inspiration. Over a span of 40 years, Richie transformed into Li'l Richie, Li'l Polka Richie, Jersey Polka Richie, and in 1989 was named "America's Concertina King" by Ted Michalski, a disc jockey and promoter from Syracuse, New York.
In commemoration of his 40th anniversary in the polka field, Richie was invited to the special taping of the Pennsylvania Polka TV Show by it's producer, John Stanky of the Pennsylvania Coal Miners Band. The show has been on the air for over 30 years. It is hosted by John's lovely wife Dottie and Binghampton New York disc jockey Billy Flynn. They presented Richie with a beautiful cake for this special occasion, as pictured on this front cover. Richie also received a plaque from internet World Wide Polka Show host Tom Gagnon and MInnesota concertina fans. This show was recorded October 5, 2008 in Wilks-Barre, Pennsylvania, near Richies' parents hometown of Moconaqua. It is dedicated to them, John and Val Drongoski, in honor of the 65th anniversary in April 2008, and to his father, John who passed away November 2008.
