Description

The White Eagle has been the symbol of Poland for centuries.  The author, Bohdan Wroblewski, was surprised to discover that many Poles knew little about the history of their national symbol.  This bilingual book is the fruit of his over 40 years of research.
The book contains over 370 color illustrations depicting Polish national symbols, profiles of prominent Poles, rulers, chiefs, knights and soldiers from time immemorial - from the legendary Lech, who founded the city of Gniezno, to modern times.

The book reveals seven centuries of Polish history through images of the White Eagle - on banners, uniforms, hats, helmets, ships, airplanes, by historical battle scenes, posters, flyers, postage stamps, official stamps etc. through different ages and periods of peace and war.
The illustrations are accompanied by texts in English and Polish.
