Description

PISANEK cards 6.25"x 3.63", are sent flat. When folded, the die-cut egg stands up.
In Poland, decorated eggs (pisanki), dating as far back as 1.000 years, are traditionally made as Easter symbols of Christ's Resurrection and nature's springtime rebirth. The Polish style of Easter eggs, which are done in purples, greens and numerous pastel shades, are very free and flowery in design. Originally, pisanki got their name from the word "pisac" which means "to write." They were inscribed with verses, wishes for a happy Easter, and sentiments of love from young girls to their beloved. Designs of the multicolored "batykowanie" (batik) eggs were made by applying wax with a stylus. Eggs of only one color, with designs scratched out with a knife, are called "kroszonki skrobanie." This is the kind you see on these cards.
