The Polish People's Republic, (Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa, PRL) was the official name of Poland from 1952 to 1989. Ruled by the Communist party, called the Polish United Worker's Party, the country emerged from the ravages of WWII very slowly. While the rest of Europe rebuilt and modernized, Poland seemd like a land where time stood still until the fall of communism in 1989. Now that the country is changing so rapidly the memories of communist times are rapidly fading. Photographs from this era are now emerging which vividly capture the spirit of those very difficult times.
Here we present a set of 6 photographs turned into coasters featuring typical scenes of Poland's capital city from the 1960's and one from 1946.
