The Holy Family and in particular the Nativity is a popular theme in Polish folk art.  This triptych is carved from three separate blocks of wood and joined with hinges.  The carvings are painted in an iconic style with much color and detail.  The blocks are rather substantial (1.5" - 4cm thick).
