Poland is a country in which the custom of making cakes at homes has never really vanished.  In most homes some home-baked tidbits can be found both on an everyday basis and on special occasions.  A fine pie, a cheesecake or a poppy-seed cake give each housewife a reason to be proud.  The smell of baking cakes is one of people's favorite smells traditionally associated with the warm atmosphere, tranquility, safety and love of the family home.
