This is the next album with which Stasiek Wielanek enriches his collection of songs of old Warsaw. These songs were sung both in small theatres in central Warsaw and on the stages of people's gaieties on the outskirts. You may laugh at mawkish words overloaded with sentimentalism, but these words like a mirror reflect the life and manners of those days.
Wielanek, fourth generation of an old Warsaw family, met with great success worldwide. He is a musician, multiinstrumentalist and composer. He began his career modestly starting playing at school and at home. Because he was cramped for space, he decided to take over the Czerniakow district by forming Kapela Czerniakowska, which he led for several years. But that still wasn't enough and he finally took the lead of Kapela Warszawska, thus taking over the whole city!
He sings these songs in an accurate, authentic style. Professor Bronislaw Wieczorkiewicz, Warsaw's folklore researcher and expert, having heard him singing, nodded with approval and said: "..well, well, Stasiek, well, well..." To this day Wielanek still considers those words as the highest mark of commendation.
