Highland Pins (Parzenica) are a special element in the field of metalwork.  In the beginning, when the highland shirt had no button and was tied at the neck with a linen ribbon, it was pinned at the chest with a piece of metal with a hole in it, through which the edges of the shirt were drawn and pierced with a pin.  These pieces of metal were decorated with semi-circles around the edges.  Further development in the ornamentation of pins included the addition of a cross at the top, dangling kistki, and a pipe-cleaning gadget.

This Highland pin is normally worn on the shirt.  Hand worked from brass with intricate detailing by one master artisan in Bukowina near Zakopane.  The workmanship is exquisite and the detail so rich these decorations have become collector's items and can be displayed or framed on your wall.  There is a small ring of coral in the center portion of the pin.
