Performed by the Sowa Family Band of Piatkowa
The village of Piatkowa, first mentioned n the 17th century is situated 25 km to the southwest of Rzeszow in southern Poland. Along with other villages, such as Borek, Hyzne, Blazowa, Harta, Ulanica, Bachorz and Dynow, it was a part of a string of villages in the area between Rzeszow and the Carpathian Mountains, i.e. the Beskid and Bieszczady regions. The Piatkowians are very attached to their native music. Neither this fact nor the existance of a village family band if musicians are unusual; similar bands are also in neighboring villages. What is striking, however, is that this family band is 150 years old (in 1975when this CD was recorded). Polish - English language booklet accompanying this CD presents further details.
