Polish wooden plates are made from Linden wood in the mountain region of southern Poland called Podhale. The plates are cut and shaped on a lathe by hand. The floral designs are burned into the wood then painted after staining and varnishing. All the flowers are surrounded by inlaid brass as well as two exterior rings. They are delightful works of folk art to be cherished for generations. The leaves around the border of this plate appear to be dark on the left side and lighter on the right side. That is due to the lighting at the time of the shoot. In reality the leaves are all darker.
