Collectors of Polish stoneware from Poland's premier company, Ceramika Artystyczna, will enjoy this unique item.
Fresh butter without refrigeration. The secret to keeping your butter fresh and spread-ably soft is to keep a butter bell on your counter. Keep your butter fresh at room temperature (up to about 80F) on the counter for several weeks without spoiling. The secret is to protect it from air. Fill the bell with butter and the larger bottom with water. Invert the bell into the water. Because butter is basically oil it won't mix with the water, and as long as it's not too hot, it will remain sticky enough to stay inside the bell and completely sealed from the air. This water submerged technique first appeared in France in the Middle Ages.

Boleslawiec (Bowl-e-swa-vee-etz) is located on the Bobr River on the German and Czech border. This region of the world has been a potter's community dating to the 7th century. Created from a white clay and fired in coal and gas ovens at temperatures in excess of 1350 degrees centigrade with a lead-free glaze, this stoneware is safe for use in the dishwasher, microwave and oven. It is also non-toxic and impervious to abrasives. As an extremely durable stoneware, it will not crack or chip easily. "Ceramika Artystyczna-Artistic Ceramics" opened its production in 1950 in the former factory "Paul und Sohn" (1893-1945). The variety of production forms include numerous museum copies and traditional shapes. Stamped pottery decorations with the famous "eye of the peacock's tail" motif have been produced since the beginning of the 19th century and are recognized among the finest examples of European pottery. Village craftsmen and peasants of lower Silesia, inspired by the peacock's feather motif, have added incredible strength and beauty to these objects, which have long been admired for their quality and decorative appeal. Each piece is hand painted and initialed/signed by skilled artisans. Source: (http://www.polishstoneware.com/about_polish_pottery/sec_polish_pottery_history/)
