The earliest Polish Easter songs originated first in the 12th century. At that time, the song Christ the Lord Resurrected was widely heard. Further development of these religious songs took place two centuries later.
Easter songs sung during Resurrection persuade the faithful that the most dramatic events in human life, suffering and death in the name of justice are only short term trials. They were sung not only in Church but by Polish knights in peace time at various religious events.
