The Confectionery Company "Kopernik" SA was founded in 1751 and it is the oldest producer of gingerbread in Poland, and one of the oldest in Europe. Gingerbread has been produced in Torun since the thirteenth century. Modern technology of gingerbread production is based on old receipts and methods, which tradition reaches back straight to the experience of baking masters of the sixteenth century. "Kopernik" produces gingerbread plain, covered with sugar icing, and with chocolate.
