There are some geographical enclaves on earth which occur quite unexpectedly in areas clearly different to them.  The Pieniny, a range of limestone mountains to the north-east of the Tatras, are not a foreign body in the mountainous country since they are in perfect harmony with their surroundings.  Still, they are distinct.   This mini color photo album covers the region beautifully.
