The Polish Army Ensemble sing the "Gorzkie Zale" (Bitter Sorrows) at the Church of The Holy Cross in Warsaw. First written in 1707, this is a beautiful Polish tradition which is reserved for Holy Week. Usually it is sung only for Good Friday. Ancient chants retracing the Passion and Crucifixion of Christ form the essence of this typically Polish weekly Lenten service that takes its name from the words of the hymn, "Gorzkie zale przybywajcia" (Come to us, bitter lamentations, courtesy Pol-Am Journal).
