Gingerbread cakes have been traditionally baked in Poland for centuries. As tradition requires, our decorated cakes are made entirely by hand according to our original recipe. They are made exclusively from organic, not processed ingredients, such as: honey, flour, butter, eggs, sugar and assortment of special spices. We decorate our cakes with natural seeds. We work the gingerbread dough into fancy cake shapes and ornaments, and decorate the designs with all kind of seeds, so the gingerbread can be eaten with enjoyment or used for decoration. Below is some practical advice on how to handle our gingerbread cakes so they last longer in their original shape and with their original colour.
• Gingerbread cakes are crisp, and so you want to protect them from cracking and crushing.
• If the air humidity is high and the gingerbread cake bends out of shape (which tends to happen in high humidity climates), then put it in an oven heated to 150 degrees Celsius (equal to 302 degrees Fahrenheit) for 10 minutes. The gingerbread cake will become malleable and return to its original shape. Once heated, a gingerbread cake also can be gently pressed to return into its original shape.
• Also proceed similarly if you want to make sure that no bugs adopt your gingerbread cake as their home.
• After one year of exposure to sunlight, the original color of gingerbread tends to fade. If you want your gingerbread cake to be dark again, then put it into an oven heated to 150-170 degrees Celsius (302-338 degrees Fahrenheit). The amount of time you leave it in the heated oven is up to you, depending on how dark you want the color to be.
• If you have had to heat your gingerbread cake for any of the above reasons, then make sure that it is completely cooled before hanging it again.
