The folklore group "Czeremszyna" (The bird's cherry) was founded in November 1993. "Czeremszyna" consists of young people living in Czeremcha, a small place which is located in the Podlasie province, 4 kilometers from the Polish Byelorussian border. Podlasie is a very specific region. In this part of Poland you can notice an influence of different kinds of cultures: Polish, Byelorussian, Ukrainian, Jewish, Tartar, Lithuanian and Russian. In most parts of this area people speak a dialect which is a mix of the Polish, Byelorussian and Ukrainian languages. In this dialect "Czeremszyna" performs their folk songs, arranging them on many instruments: a bass balalajka, an accordian, a violin, a sopilka (the Ukrainian flute), a dulcimer, a guitar, a mandolin, a drum and kongo. The main theme of these songs are unhappy love and a daily life of country life
